π Abstract
Odia drama represents a significant cultural and artistic tradition that has evolved through centuries of historical change, religious influence, and socio-political transformation. From its early roots in ritual performance and folk storytelling to its emergence as a modern literary theatre form, Odia drama reflects the dynamic interplay between tradition and modernity. This research article revisits Odia drama by examining its historical foundations, major transitional phases, aesthetic developments, and contemporary expressions. It highlights how Odia theatre has continuously adapted to changing cultural contexts while retaining its indigenous identity, making it a vital component of Indiaβs diverse theatrical heritage.
