๐ Abstract
John Lockeโs philosophy marked a major turning point in human thought by rejecting the notion of innate ideas and emphasizing experience as the true foundation of knowledge. He argued that the mind begins as a blank slate, with all ideas developing from sensory experiences and the mindโs reflection on them. This shifted philosophy from abstract theorizing to a focus on observation and rational analysis. Locke also defined the limits of knowledge by distinguishing between primary qualities, which exist objectively in things like shape and motion, and secondary qualities, which depend on perception, such as color or taste. Through his Essay Concerning Human Understanding, Locke promoted a scientific and practical approach to philosophy that valued evidence, observation, and reason over blind belief. His empiricism deeply influenced later thinkers like Berkeley and Hume, and laid the intellectual foundation for modern science, psychology, and political philosophy, teaching that genuine knowledge arises from experience and grows through thoughtful reflection
