The Internet of Things (IoT) plays a crucial role in enabling smart city solutions by connecting physical devices, sensors, and systems through the internet. IoT facilitates real-time data collection, monitoring, analysis, and automated decision-making across various urban domains such as transportation, healthcare, energy, water management, waste management, and public safety. This paper explores the role of IoT in smart metropolitan cities by analyzing existing systems, identifying their limitations, and proposing an IoTbased framework for intelligent urban management. After a thorough analysis of the relevant literature, the methodology, anticipated outcomes, potential improvements, and conclusions are thoroughly discussed. The study demonstrates how IoT enhances urban quality of life, promotes sustainable development, and facilitates effective governance.
