Phishing attacks constitute a serious cybersecurity issue where users are lured into entering false URLs to acquire critical data such as passwords and bank details. Users often face difficulty determining whether the URL is a legitimate one or not. PhishAlert A Risk Based URL Detection System attempts to solve the above problem by offering an efficient solution. It is a web application that assesses the URLs and classifies them into safe, suspicious, or phishing. The system employs a rule-based algorithm that examines different attributes of the URL, such as the utilisation of the HTTPS protocol, suspicious terms such as 'login', 'verify', and 'bank', the length of the URL, special characters, and multiple sub-domains. Depending upon the attributes, a risk score is computed, and a classification is made. The program also provides the reasons behind the classification to increase the awareness of the users. It incorporates VirusTotal for verifying the URLs through several security engines. It has a dashboard and history section as well. In addition, the software is developed in such a way that even those who do not have technical skills can examine the security of any URL without much effort. The dashboard displays the scan report in charts, making it easier for users to know how many URLs are safe, suspicious, or phishing. The history section retains all URLs that have been checked before, allowing the user to examine, filter, and download their information whenever necessary. The system uses both the rules method and outside sources to ensure more reliable results
